This 40 hour course, formerly referred to as First Responder, provides the necessary knowledge and skill for the variety of patient and situation specific that any Emergency Medical Responder could encounter generally in a community or workplace setting. This course is designed for a minimum of a group of 10 people, for example.  Generally the maximum for any group would be 20 people.  ​The topics that could be covered include:

- One and Two-Rescuer CPR/AED for All Ages

- Patient Assessment: Subjective and Objective Aspects

- Medical and Behavioral Emergencies

- Trauma and Environmental Emergencies

- Obstetric and Pediatric Emergencies

- Lifting and Moving Patients

- EMS Response and Operations

- Special Operations

- NIMS: Incident Management

​Upon successful completion of this course, the candidate can receive their IDPH EMR Certification Card.
